Teen retailer Zumiez says key sales figure down 7.6 percent in January
Zumiez Inc., the sports clothing and shoe retailer, said Wednesday that revenue at stores open at least a year fell 7.6 percent in January.
That measure is considered a key indicator of a retailer's financial health because it strips away the impact of recently opened or closed stores.
Total sales fell 24 percent in January to $38.1 million from $50.3 million in the same month a year before.
Zumiez, which is based in Lynnwood, Wash., operates 551 stores under the Zumiez and Blue Tomato names.
