35th annual SHOT Show in Las Vegas

President Barack Obama urged a reluctant Congress to require background checks for all gun sales and ban both military-style assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines in an emotion-laden plea to curb gun violence in America.

The National Shooting Sports Foundation's 35th annual SHOT Show is focusing its trade show on products and services new to what it calls a $4.1 billion industry, with a nod to a raging national debate over assault weapons.
