I hope the people who received this wonderful gift appreciated it, so many people take things for granted like the world owes them. All the people that donate and help others will truly be blessed. God Bless Everyone

I wish we all had this spirit throughout the year!!! We can help in so many small ways through volunteer work, donating as much as we can (even $1 or $5) to our local Food Banks, etc. Any little bit helps and makes yourself feel so good. I live from paycheck to paycheck myself, but feel so much better for giving $1, $5, sometimes more if I can manage to. Just think if everyone that had a spare dollar donated it, how much difference that could make in this world!!! God Bless All :D~

This just shows that the spirit of Christmas is real and how awesome it is when people do these things to help others without expecting something special in return, except just the fact that they want to help. Loved this story!!!

I just wish something like this would have happened in Arizona, although this year I was not able to put anything on layaway for children. My husband has been out of work for over 1-1/2 years and I just found out last week that my job as a medical transcriptionist will soon be ending. We have already lost two vehicles and our house.

Have you looked into the company Transcend? I used to work as a medical transcriptionist for them, and I believe they are giving out a $500 bonus if you start part-time before 12/31 and $1,000 if you start full-time before 12/31. They have benefits, too. Good luck!

I have always loved Kmart!! It was there for me (layaway and good service/low prices) when I needed them and I will drive miles to go to them rather than shop at Walmart...who gives me crappy service and rude associates!!

yes -- same here! we have 3 walmarts within short driving distance to us, and yet we drive about four times as far to shop at k-mart. k-mart has always been good to us too, and we've used their layaway many times.

we like that they have great quality items -- not just most of the outside brand names, but even their 'house' brands are outstanding...route 66, thom mcann, jacklyn smith, boxer, etc... it's not like other house brands, where you don't know who is making the product...the k-mart 'house' brands are known brands that specialize in specific products, but are exclusive to k-mart. i wonder how many people are aware of those products and realize they are exclusive to that chain?

no, i'm not affiliated with k-mart in any way...except as a loyal customer over several decades. while i'm not thrilled with sears, i am so happy they didn't change the core products at the k-marts they left open when they merged. i'm just incredibly sad to hear k-mart didn't do well.

fortunately, we still have one i can get to, and i worry if that one will be one of the stores that closes.

      -sigh-

well that is a beautiful story it is beautiful to know that act of kindness is not disingrating like some of us think.

This situation reminds me of the movie, "Paying It Forward, when a boy suggested this very same scenario. Can you imagine the happy familys out there if this spread even further. It goes to show you that there are people with kind hearts out there, still. God Bless Them.

This is the reason for the season!! Jesus gave His all and when ppl give from the heart like Jesus did it is" the most wonderful time of the year"! I lost my husband in Feb. this year and we have 8 grown kids and 21 grandkids and I really have been having a difficult time getting into the "spirit" of Christmas, but this story is so uplifting, I'm not able this year to give to our "children" like years past ,but, this story reminds me that it's not all about the giving, but, the recieving as well, just as we recieve Jesus' gift of salvation!! Thank you so much for this story, for the first time in a long time, I'm crying HAPPY TEARS !! GOD BLESS US EVERYONE!!
