Deserted houses, covered in graffiti, are boarded up in Doel, near the Port of Antwerp, Belgium. Nearby, construction has recently began on what will be the world's largest ship lock, the Deurganckdock lock, which will be able to handle the world's largest ships. The few remaining residents of the village of Doel have been battling the government for years to save their village from port expansion. Doel is slated for demolition by 2020 to make way for another high volume lock known as the Saeftinghedok.
