Europe Breaking News: Floods Hit Profits at Munich Re
German reinsurer Munich Re says first-quarter net profit fell 33%, as losses from floods in central Europe weighed on earnings. At a public tasting in London, Dutch scientists served a single hamburger made from cow stem cells. Questions were posed, and answers were given, about the science behind the revolutionary patty, including how it could help combat climate change, and what it actually tastes like. EADS, the parent company of Airbus, confirmed that it had received a letter from London-based TCI urging it to sell its 46 percent stake in Dassault Aviation, makers of the Rafale fighter jet. Any shake-up of the EADS ownership structure, however, would be fraught with political complications.
