Fast-Food Workers Strike to Demand Living Wage

In cities across the country on Thursday, fast-food employees and labor organizers are turning out in support of higher wages. Workers want the right to unionize and get a pay raise to about $15 per hour, more than double the federal minimum wage.

Organizers say walkouts are planned in 100 cities, with rallies set for another 100 cities.

There is much debate over whether raising wages would actually benefit low-skilled workers and the broad economy, and what effect this would have on the fast-food industry.
