Heat Wave Breaking News: Another Sticky Day in Store
A heat wave is putting a humid bear-hug on the Northeast this week. The heat index in Philadelphia today could reach 110 degrees and New York might use more electricity than ever before. The stifling heat wave in the East stretched New York's emergency crews, triggered power outages and made for potentially dangerous overnight temperatures -- and the worst may be to come. The northeastern United States has sweltered in a scorching summer heat wave, complete with stagnant, sticky air and no winds for relief. A heat advisory will be issued if the heat index - a measure of how hot it feels when relative humidity is factored in with air temperature - reaches 100 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit
