Polls consistently find that the economy is the top concern of voters, and Romney tends to get an edge over Obama when people are asked who might do better with it. Whether that truly drives how Americans vote is a crucial question for Election Day.

In the final stretch of the presidential campaign, President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney will be judged on their perceived abilities to improve our economy. To gauge the mood of the electorate, Associated Press Photographers visited voters around the country, and asked them this question, "Is the economy better off?".
