Dogtrainer so wrong. "US exports more oil than it imports" Come again? True for Canada if the pipeline is built, but never for the US. ND is developing gas, not oil. In order to keep our oil here, we need Keystone.

What so many are not aware of a few simple facts.
Both Canada and the U.S. export more oil then they import.
Why? Blame it on simple Greed.
Remove Wall St.and the speculators that drive up the price of oil from the equation and we would all be paying far less at the pumps and to heat our homes.
As far as the availability of oil, once again the U.S. can look in it`s own backyard,
North Dakota where the largest oil deposit in the world can now be found.
Now as far as the discussion on enviromental damage.....I had been working in ND this past year due to the flood disastor there and spoke to may locals.....Now ND is not the most pristene location in the country but it is mentioned that by 2014 upward of 2000 more oil wells are proposed to be drilled.
Speaking to the local farmers they are terrified at the impact that will have.
I wonder where that oil will be shipped to?
Oil is all about money and who will pay the most for it, PERIOD!
I say now that N.America can out produce the Middle East, let`s keep all oil drilled here, here and finally get our freedom from OPEC and countries like Iran that always look to cripple our economy.
We really don`t need any of them

Didn't China sign a contract with Canada for this oil several years ago? Isn't that why they need to get it on a boat to China?? If Canada would sell it to us then we don't need to cross 6 states, just refine it in one of the northern states. Sounds like Canada wants to dump their toxic stuff on us. Don't mess with Texas is our moto.

Since Environmentalists have successfully prevented the construction of new refineries for decades, the oil must be transported to an existing refinery. The USA has only a few of these strategic refineries and most of those are located in the Gulf region of the US. That is becuse the extreme temperatures of the north make it more expensive and difficult to refine in those regions. Even tto get the oil to market requires that it be heated in order to be pumped through a pipeline.

it has to moved to market to sell. Oklahoma has the terminal where they can sell to us. So it must be transported to that point.

Sailing super tankers to Kitamaat is insane. Piping oil there is just about as insane. The Keystone pipeline may not be the best solution, but it is better than this.

Am I right to understand that the new Pipeline that WAS going to Texas is now being DIVERTED to a port in British Columbia???

Why can't Canada just sell there new founded OIL to the U.S and themselves ? Any extra they can sell to England and Europe then we ( the U.S ) wouldn't have to give a hoot about the Saudia OIL..
