Kumho Asiana Group Breaking News: Asiana Crew Tried to Abort Landing Seconds Before SF Crash: NTSB
The crew of the Asiana Airlines plane that crashed Saturday at San Francisco airport tried to increase its speed and abort its landing just seconds before it hit the seawall in front of the airport runway, according to flight recorders recovered by the National Transportation Safety Board. Police officers threw utility knives up to crew members inside the burning wreckage of Asiana Airlines Flight 214 so they could cut away passengers' seat belts. Passengers jumped down emergency slides, escaping from thick billowing smoke. A federal aviation official says an Asiana Airlines flight has crashed while landing at San Francisco airport. It was not immediately known whether there were any injuries.
