Your right when a gang robs a bank they don't just arrest the leader the arrest them all. You mean to tell me no one could stop him from getting that close.

that is crazy the captain should be held responsible for all damages and charged for the ppl that died...it was his fault intentional or not!!!!!!!!

I agree, but there is no way he has the money to do anything for anyone. I think it's a very good thing that the cruise line is offering compensation to all those people. What is criminal are the lawyers who try to ream the company for something that they aren't even responsible for. It's like suing the city for all the idiot drivers who kill and injure other people on their roads.

Yes Jan, but in this case, the company hired him, and therefore takes responsibility for his performance. I agree that the attorneies will now try to rape the company and there will be more who suffer. The good people who work for the cruise line, the good people who invest in the company and ultimately you and I who will see increases in rates in cruise fares and more.

Besides the captain who gave the orders, weren't there many officers involved that should have known this was not a smart route and corrected him? He does not bear all of the accountability, if you ask me.

You dont correct a captain on his own ship he has the final word over everything if you dont do as the captain says you are immediately relieved of your duties and can face charges

Oh, please! We're talking about a cruise ship, not the SS Constitution! You mean to tell me you would steer the ship right into harms way, blind abandonment is just as damning as the Captain's negligence! They are all responsible!

I think the captain needs to pay severly criminal wise for each and every passenger that died aboard that ship due to his neglegnce

life x 16 equals not fricken long enough if you ask me.....He should be slowly dunked to where he passes out, let him come to and do it again... The punishment should fit the crime..

I was on the ship, it was a total clusterfuk. Never again will I take a cruise, these are the same idiots who are running the Carnival ships. Let's face it, these morons have a bunch of other morons working on these ships for less than minimum wage. You get what you pay for.

What was the skipper doing that close to the rocky promontory. I've operated a 16' boat with an outboard engine on it and I would take THAT little boat so close to those rocks. Maybe he was SMOKING rocks.
  • Brian  •  Hartford, Connecticut  •  4 months ago
good job captain! you just turned a brand new 680 million dollar boat into a crumpled beer can!and took at least 16 people to Davey Jones's locker just to "get a better view".... heres your sign!
  • Nora  •  Warren, Oregon  •  4 months ago
If they offered $14,460 for lost luggage to passengers I could just imagine what they offered the families for their loved ones they lost . . . .
