this is actually not that new. Back when I was a kid people had toilet paper covers -- usually some kind of crocheted/knitted cozy thing, sometimes a critter or a doll. My parents never had one, but I had friends who's parents did. It's more a "decorative" way to hide an extra roll. Back in the day it was uncommon to have cabinets under your sink etcetc, and the extra rolls were usually stored in the hall closet or something. So this way you could have an extra roll in the bathroom in case of emergency, so to speak :P
What's the point of a toilet paper cover, if it is no longer on the roll, and you have to take the roll out to use it. But company's like this have always crapped out nonsense, and been able to make millions on peoples stupidity. There is no rhyme or reason for this junk, but as long as people buy it, companies will continue to make it. Now, if they wanted to make a cover for toilet paper, they should have made it to where the roll still worked on the toilet paper holder. Oh well, I guess not all companies have logic. And if it is for the extra roll, people keep that #$%$ in a bathroom cabinet.
Oh goody, he's recycling some old designs from the 60s & 70s! Gee, nobody's been doing THAT lately, have they? Oh wait, they HAVE! I bet they paid (pardon the pun) a pant load for these uggo designs.
At least it's not a rerun of, say, the 90's. I'll take the ingenuity of the 40's or the fun of the 60's over the beige, beige, and more beige of a Home Depot floor display any day. Besides, everything else in home design is is in itself a rerun of French provincial or rustic Tuscan done poorly by Americans that have all the proportions wrong to begin with. Plus, look at the basic Kleenex boxes that still have nasty Hallmark flowers on them. I'd take these over that stuff any day.
