World Architecture Festival Awards: The best buildings in the world

The Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tamaki, New Zealand, designed by Francis-Jones Morehen Thorp and Archimedia won the prestigious Building of the Year. The public project included the restoration and adaption of heritage buildings, an extension on basement storage and a redesign of the surrounding areas in Albert Park.

Ambitious, practical and unusual buildings have won at the World Architecture Festival Awards. The prestigious prize, which honours buildings around the world, crowned an art gallery in New Zealand as the Building of the Year. Six British buildings were among the 29 winners. Entries spanned completed building buildings, landscape projects and future plans.
