Apple supplier Foxconn introduces rotating CEO role

Taiwan's Foxconn has this month started a rotating chief executive system in an overhaul of its management designed to nurture successors of the world's largest contract electronics maker, chairman Young Liu said on Wednesday. Reuters exclusively reported last week that major Apple supplier Foxconn was considering introducing a rotating chief executive system in a move to boost corporate governance by separating the role of chief executive from the chairperson as well as to develop future talents. Responding to reporters' questions in Taipei, Liu said in order to have sustainable development Foxconn must have "succession planning" in place and that the rotating system could help develop future talents.

Taiwan's Foxconn, the world's largest contract electronics maker and the biggest assembler of Apple's iPhone, said on Friday it expected a rise in second quarter revenue after the previous quarter underperformed market expectations. The first quarter is traditionally quieter than the previous one, the season when Taiwan's tech companies race to supply smartphones, tablets and other electronics to major vendors such as Apple for Western markets' year-end holiday period. Foxconn said in a statement that this year's second quarter "remains a traditional off-peak season, and major products are entering a period of transition between old and new products".

Taiwan’s Stock Market Holds Firm After Earthquake

Taiwan’s stock market was relatively resilient on Wednesday, after the island was hit by a 7.4-magnitude earthquake. The quake hit Taiwan’s east coast around 8 a.m. local time, leading to at least seven deaths and dozens of injuries, according to Taiwan’s fire department. Foxconn shares surge 9.5% after Q4 profit beats market estimates

TAIPEI (Reuters) -Shares of Apple supplier Foxconn rose as much as 9.5% early on Friday to their highest in three years, a day after it reported a fourth-quarter profit that beat expectations and forecast a bullish outlook for this year due to booming demand for AI servers. Foxconn, formally called Hon Hai Precision Industry Co Ltd, on Thursday reported a bigger-than-expected 33% jump in net profit for the fourth quarter and said it was also looking for a significant rise in revenue this year. "We view Hon Hai as a major beneficiary of Nvidia’s next-generation AI server products with increasing AI server assemblies/racks orders," analysts at Daiwa Capital Markets wrote in a note after the earnings briefing.
