| Ambassadors International, Inc., through its subsidiaries, operates as a cruise, marine, and travel and events company. The company operates in three segments: Cruise, Marine, and Travel and Events. The Cruise segment provides overnight passenger cruises that sail along the inland rivers and coastal waterways of North America under Majestic America Line and Windstar Cruises brands; and international-flagged ships that sail to destinations in the Caribbean, Europe, the Americas, and the Greek Isles. The Marine segment includes marina design, management, and development; and shipyard operations, marina consulting, and marina construction services. The Travel and Events segment develops, markets, and manages meetings and incentive programs utilizing incentive travel, merchandise award programs, and corporate meeting services under the Ambassadors, LLC brand. This segment also provides hotel reservation, registration, and travel services for meetings, conventions, expositions, and trade shows; and develops, markets, and distributes event portfolio management technology solutions. As of December 31, 2008, the companys U.S.-flagged cruise ships offered 928 passenger berths and its international-flagged ships offered 608 passenger berths. It also involves in reinsurance business comprising commercial auto liability, commercial physical damage, and workers compensation. The company serves corporations, trade show companies, large associations, government agencies, and private individuals.
