Commerce Bancshares, Inc. operates as the bank holding company for Commerce Bank that provides retail, corporate, investment, trust, and asset management products and services to individuals and businesses. The company operates in three segments: Consumer, Commercial, and Wealth. The Consumer segment offers various retail banking products and services, including consumer deposits; consumer loans, such as auto, marine, tractor/trailer, recreational vehicle, fixed rate home equity loans, and other consumer installment loans; and personal mortgage banking, consumer debit and credit bank cards, and student loans, as well as provides online and telephone banking services. The Commercial segment provides various corporate lending, merchant and commercial bank card products, leasing, international services, investment safekeeping and bond accounting services, and business and government deposit and cash management services, as well as sells fixed income securities. The Wealth segment provides traditional trust and estate tax planning services, brokerage services, and advisory and discretionary investment portfolio management services, as well as manages a family of proprietary mutual funds, which are available for sale to trust and general retail customers. The company, through its other non-banking subsidiaries, engages in underwriting credit life and credit accident, and health insurance; selling property and casualty insurance products; private equity investment; securities brokerage; mortgage banking; and leasing activities. It serves customers through a network of 204 branches and 403 ATMs, and a central contact center from approximately 360 locations in Missouri, Kansas, Illinois, Oklahoma, and Colorado.
