| Enerplus Resources Fund, together with its subsidiaries, operates as an open-end investment trust. It owns a diversified portfolio of crude oil and natural gas producing properties in the provinces of Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, western Canada; and in the states of Montana, North Dakota, Wyoming, and Utah, the United States. As of December 31, 2008, it had proved plus probable reserves of approximately 120,694 thousand barrels of light and medium crude oil; 45,929 thousand barrels of heavy crude oil; and 17,817 thousand barrels of natural gas liquids and 1,487,668 million cubic feet of natural gas. The company was founded in 1986 and is headquartered in Calgary, Canada. |
