Further, it manufactures and supplies recycled lead; produces and distributes rectifiers and parts; provides life insurance and financial investment products; and engages in the lead smelting and refining activities. It sells its batteries through a distribution network of dealer outlets to various car and two-wheeler manufacturers. It serves railway, telecom, power plant, and solar cell sectors, as well as other industrial sectors, such as uninterrupted power supply, inverters, and traction batteries. The company was formerly known as Chloride Industries Ltd. and changed its name to Exide Industries Limited in August 1995. Exide Industries Limited was founded in 1916 and is based in Kolkata, India.
