The company's turning machines, or lathes, are power-driven machines used to remove material from either bar stock or a rough-formed part by moving multiple cutting tools against the surface of a part rotating at very high speeds in a spindle mechanism; grinding machines are used to finish parts of various shapes and sizes; and machining centers are used to remove materials from stationary, prismatic, or box-like parts of various shapes. It also provides post-sale support services, including operation and maintenance training, in-field maintenance, and in-field repair. The company serves aerospace, automotive, computer, communications, consumer-electronics, construction equipment, defense, energy, farm equipment, medical equipment, recreational equipment, and transportation industries. Hardinge Inc. sells its products through distributors, agents, and manufacturersÂ’ representatives. The company was founded in 1890 and is headquartered in Elmira, New York.
