The News Media segment comprises The New York Times Media Group consisting of The New York Times; NYTimes.com; the International Herald Tribune; and IHT.com. This segment also comprises the New England Media Group, which includes The Boston Globe, Boston.com, and the Worcester Telegram & Gazette; and the Regional Media Group consisting of 15 daily newspapers in Alabama, California, Florida, Louisiana, North Carolina, and South Carolina, as well as related print publication businesses. The About Group segment consists of the Web sites of About.com, ConsumerSearch.com, UCompareHealthCare.com, and Caloriecount.about.com. The company also holds interest in a Canadian newsprint company and a supercalendered paper manufacturing partnership in Maine, as well as publishes a free daily newspaper in the greater Boston area. In addition, The New York Times Company operates an online advertising network that sells targeted display advertising onto local newspaper and other Web sites; owns Boston Red Sox, Fenway Park, and adjacent real estate properties; operates a regional cable sports network that televises the Red Sox game; and owns Roush Fenway Racing, a NASCAR team.
