BUSINESS SUMMARY 
Bank of the Ozarks, Inc. operates as the holding company for Bank of the Ozarks, which provides retail and commercial banking products and services. It offers deposit products and services, including checking, savings, money market, time deposit, and individual retirement accounts. The company also provides real estate loans, including loans secured by residential one to four family, non-farm and nonresidential, agricultural, construction and land development, and multifamily residential properties; consumer loans for the purchase of automobiles, household appliances, furniture, trailers, boats, and mobile homes; commercial and industrial loans, and leases, such as loans for commercial, industrial, and professional purposes, including loans to fund working capital requirements, and purchases of machinery and equipment; and agricultural loans for financing agricultural production, including loans to businesses or individuals engaged in the production of timber, poultry, livestock, or crops. It also provides mortgage lending and treasury management services, including wholesale lock box services and remote deposit capture services; trust and wealth management services, such as financial planning and money management for individuals and businesses, custodial services, retirement planning, real estate appraisals, credit-related life and disability insurance, ATMs, and telephone banking; and Internet banking, including on-line bill pay, debit cards, and safe deposit boxes. In addition, the company provides credit cards for consumers and businesses, merchant credit card transactions processing, and investment brokerage services. As of December 31, 2008, it had 65 banking offices in 34 communities throughout northern, western, and central Arkansas; 6 banking offices in Frisco, Lewisville, Dallas, and Texarkana, Texas; and a loan production office in Charlotte, North Carolina. The company was founded in 1981 and is headquartered in Little Rock, Arkansas.
