Quality Distribution, Inc., together with its subsidiaries, engages in the transportation of bulk chemicals primarily in North America. It operates in three segments: Chemical Logistics, Energy Logistics, and Intermodal. The Chemical Logistics segment is involved in the bulk transportation of liquid and dry bulk chemicals, as well as bulk dry and liquid food-grade products. The Energy Logistics segment engages in the transportation of fresh water, disposal water, and crude oil for the oil and gas frac shale energy markets. The Intermodal segment provides intermodal ISO tank container transportation and depot services; tank cleaning, heating, testing, maintenance, and storage services; and local and over-the-road trucking services. Quality Distribution, Inc. also rents equipment. As of December 31, 2012, the company managed a fleet of approximately 2,800 tractors, 5,200 trailers, and 1,400 energy logistics equipment. It also operates a network of 28 independent affiliates; 89 terminals servicing the chemical markets; 9 ISO tank depot services terminals that serves the intermodal market; and 10 terminals servicing the energy markets. Quality Distribution, Inc. was founded in 1984 and is headquartered in Tampa, Florida.
