    Matthew Kennedy is the Director of Rainier Investment Management’s fixed-income management team, and serves as a portfolio manager and analyst. He began his investment career in 1995 with GE Financial Assurance in Seattle. During his years at GE Financial Assurance, he served as a senior analyst and made investment recommendations for Investment Grade, High Yield and Private Placement Portfolios. From 1991 through 1994, Matthew was a CPA and auditor with Deloitte & Touche in Seattle. Matthew holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration, with specializations in Finance and Accounting, from Washington State University. He is a member of the CFA Institute and the Seattle Society of Financial Analysts.

    Fund Summary 
    The investment seeks to earn a high level of current income; capital appreciation is a secondary objective. In pursuing its goal, the fund invests at least 80% of its net assets, plus any borrowings for investment purposes, in below investment grade bonds of corporate issuers. These "high yield" securities, also called "junk bonds," will generally be rated BB or lower by Standard & Poor's Rating Group ("S&P") or will be of equivalent quality rating from another Nationally Recognized Statistical Ratings Organization.
