Its products include two to six inches in diameter sapphire cores for use in LED applications and into components, such as lens covers for mobile devices; six-inch sapphire wafers that are used as substrates for the manufacture of LED chips, as well as for other semiconductor applications, including silicon-on-sapphire RFICs; two to four-inch material primarily in core form; six and eight-inch material principally in polished wafer form; and optical sapphire products that are used in equipment for a range of end markets comprising defense and aerospace, medical devices, oil and gas drilling, semiconductor manufacturing, and other markets. The company also sells optically-polished windows and ground window blanks of sapphire. Rubicon Technology sells its products directly to customers in Asia, Australia, North America, and Europe. The company was incorporated in 2001 and is headquartered in Bensenville, Illinois.
