Rural Electrification Corporation Limited provides financial and loan assistance to state electricity boards, state government departments, state power utilities, and rural electric cooperatives for rural electrification projects in India. The company offers finance for intensive electrification projects; pumpset projects; the improvement of transmission, sub transmission, and distribution systems; and the procurement and installation of meters, transformers, and capacitors, as well as provides short term loans for working capital requirements, such as purchase of fuel for power plant, purchase of power, and material and minor equipment, and system and network maintenance. It also offers debt refinancing; short term/medium term loans to the manufacturers of power/electrical material for power projects; finance for the development of rural electric cooperative societies; and term loans for power generation projects.
