James Margard is Rainier Investment Management’s Chief Investment Officer, and Director of Equity Management. Prior to joining Rainier in 1985, he served as senior analyst and portfolio manager at Value Line, Inc. (New York), specializing in small-capitalization stocks. His impressive track record and stock recommendations have been highlighted in Barron’s, Forbes, Money, USA TODAY, Investor’s Business Daily, Smart Money, No-Load Fund Analyst, Pensions & Investments, The New York Times, The Seattle Times, Kiplingers Personal Finance and The Wall Street Transcript. Jim has also appeared on Wall Street Week with Louis Rukeyser, CNBC, CNNfn, Bloomberg TV and KCTS-TV. Jim holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. He received a Master of Business Administration in Finance from the University of New Mexico and a Master of Arts from New York University. He is a member of the CFA Institute.

Fund Summary 
The investment seeks to maximize long-term capital appreciation. The fund invests at least 80% of its assets in the common stock of large-capitalization companies traded in the U.S. Rainier considers large-capitalization companies to be those currently with minimum market capitalizations of $3 billion at the time of purchase. The fund may invest in common stock of companies of all sizes, including small-capitalization companies. Investments in companies with market capitalizations below $3 billion will normally comprise less than 20% of the fund.
