| The investment seeks to provide long-term growth of capital. The fund normally invests at least 65% of total assets in equities, mainly common stocks of U.S. companies. Although it can invest in companies of any size, it generally focuses on established companies that are similar in size to the companies in the S&P 500 index or the Russell 1000 Growth index. The fund may also invest in other types of equity securities such as preferred stocks or convertible securities. It may lend its investment securities in an amount up to 33 1/3% of total assets to approved institutional borrowers who need to borrow securities in order to complete certain transactions. |
