These skilled nursing facilities include Express Recovery, a unit that provides skilled nursing care and rehabilitation therapy for patients recovering from conditions, such as joint replacement surgery, and cardiac and respiratory ailments. This segment also provides assisted living facilities, including residential accommodations, activities, meals, security, housekeeping, and assistance in the activities of daily living to seniors who are independent or who require some support, as well as operates a pharmacy. The Therapy Services segment offers rehabilitation therapy services to third party skilled nursing operators. It serves a total of 195 healthcare facilities. The Hospice and Home Health Services segment provides hospice services comprising palliative and clinical care, education, and counseling focusing on the physical, spiritual, and psychosocial needs of terminally ill individuals and their families. As of December 31, 2012, the company owned or leased 74 skilled nursing facilities and 22 assisted living facilities comprising 10,409 licensed beds in California, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nevada, Nebraska, New Mexico, and Texas.
