The company sells its products to mass retailers, supermarkets, mass merchandisers, distributors, restaurants, hospitals, warehouse clubs, national chains, and other institutions through direct sales force and outside brokers. The company was formerly known as Consolidated Foods Corporation and changed its name to Sara Lee Corporation in 1985.
