The firm is primarily focused on manufacturing, services and distribution companies. It invests in the manufacturing, business services, consumer products and services, manufacturing, industrial, distribution, healthcare and food companies. The firm also invests in the energy sector, with a focus on energy specific manufacturing including, production, with a focus on oil and gas exploration, production, and development, gas gathering systems, and oil sands mining; natural gas liquids; coal with a focus on coal mining and coal fired generation; nuclear with a focus on uranium mining and nuclear-fired generation; wind-powered generation; and solar-powered generation. The firm with a focus on the transmission aspect, is focused on oil and gas pipelines, LNG tankers and re-gasification facilities, and power transmission. The distribution aspect consists primarily of propane distribution (both bulk and pre-packaged), gas distribution, and electricity distribution. Within the energy sector the firm is also focused on oil and gas services and utility services(power, gas, etc.). The firm also invests in the commercial finance; leasing companies; consumer finance; real estate lenders ; other specialty originators; insurance companies; and asset managers. It also invests in companies that provide services to federal, state, or local governments with a specific focus on, federal, state and local government services including, information technology; custom information technology solutions; technology and software enabling headcount reduction; technology and software enabling cost reductions in conducting transactions with or within government; human resources; benefits administration; outsourcing; transaction processing; engineering and construction; and logistics. The firm also invests in equipment manufacturers with a focus on homeland security and components. It also invests in maintenance, repair, overhaul, and aftermarket support with a focus on aftermarket parts and supplies and technology insertion into existing platforms. The firm's technology investments are focused on the digital media; entertainment; internet; consumer related communications; mobile and wireless; security and data center infrastructure; software and services; semiconductor; and other innovative technologies. The firm invests in companies based in Asia; North America; and Europe. The firm seeks to invest upto $400 million per transaction in companies with EBITDA of at least $2 million and enterprise values between $20 million and $500 million, with higher amounts in case of mezzanine transactions and smaller amounts in case of add-on acquisitions. The firm seeks companies with sales between $10 million and $750 million. The sponsor finance group of the firm, seeks to invest $10 million to $400 million per transactions, with smaller amounts in case of add-on acquisitions in companies with an EBITDA of at least $5 million. The firm's special situations investments range between $20 million and $400 million per transaction. The firm's technology investments are focused between $5 million and $25 million and higher with upto $100 million in high growth later stage companies. The firm structures its investments in the form of senior debt, subordinated debt, equity warrants, derivative agreements, and preferred and common equity and invests in both minority and majority positions. The firm seeks to make direct or co-investments through its sponsors finance group, investing in 49 percent minority equity per investment. The firm also co-invests with other private equity firm, providing mezzanine, senior, subordinated debt and equity to fund buyouts and prefers middle market firms that are more than ten years old.
