BUSINESS SUMMARY 
Acme Packet, Inc. provides session border controllers (SBC) that enable service providers, enterprises, and contact centers to deliver interactive communications and data services across Internet protocol (IP) network borders. The SBCs are deployed at the borders of IP networks, such as between two service providers; between a service provider and its enterprise, residential, or mobile customers; or between a server provider’s network and a data center. The SBCs act as the source and destination for signaling messages and media streams entering and exiting the network. The company offers Acme Packet Net-Net OS, a software platform providing border control functionality in terms of architectural flexibility, signaling protocol breadth, control function and feature depth, and carrier-class availability and manageability. It also provides Acme Packet Net-Net platforms, such as Acme Packet Net-Net 4000 and 9000 series platforms, and 4000 ATCA blade to address the interactive communications requirements; Acme Packet Net-Net EMS, a network element management application for the Net-Net family of SBCs; and Acme Packet Net-Net SAS, a session analysis system to provide off-line collection, reporting, and analysis of session call detail records for the Net-Net family of SBCs. In addition, the company offers professional, post-installation, and training services. It offers its products and services indirectly through distribution partners and through direct sales force. Acme Packet, Inc. serves incumbent and competitive local exchange and long distance providers, international service providers, cable operators, Internet telephony service providers, voice application service providers, wireless service providers, enterprises, universities, and government agencies. The company was formerly known as Primary Networks, Inc. and changed its name to Acme Packet, Inc. in January 2001. Acme Packet, Inc. was founded in 2000 and is headquartered in Burlington, Massachusetts.
