Its clinical development products comprise various product candidates for the treatment of genetic diseases, which include PEG-PAL, an enzyme substitution therapy under Phase I clinical development to treat phenylketonurics, which are not responsive to Kuvan; 6R-BH4, a Phase II clinical development product for the treatment of multiple cardiovascular indications, including sickle cell disease; and GALNS, an enzyme replacement therapy for MPS Type IV or Morquio Syndrome Type A (MPS IV A), a lysosomal storage disease. In addition, the company is conducting preclinical development of various other enzyme product candidates for genetic and other diseases, including a small molecule for the treatment of Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Further, BioMarin holds rights to receive royalties related to Orapred and Orapred ODT as a result of sublicense of North American rights. The company sells its products to specialty pharmacies, hospitals acting as retailers, and pharmaceutical wholesalers in the United States, Europe, and internationally.
