| Cabot Corporation provides specialty chemicals and performance materials worldwide. The companys Core segment includes rubber blacks business comprising carbon black and elastomer composite products for tire applications; and supermetals business that consists of tantalum, niobium, and their alloys. Its Performance Segment engages in the design, manufacture, and sale of specialty grades of carbon black and thermoplastic concentrates; and fumed silica, fumed alumina, and dispersions. This segment serves automotive, construction and infrastructure, and electronics and consumer products sectors. The companys New Business segment produces and sells aqueous inkjet colorants to the inkjet printing market; and aerogel, a nano-structured high surface area hydrophobic silica-based particle that is used in a range of thermal insulation and specialty chemical applications. This segment also focuses on developing advanced materials for anti-counterfeiting security applications, portable stationary and automotive fuel cell applications, solar energy applications, environmental and industrial catalyst applications, and for other performance material applications. Its Specialty Fluids Segment produces and markets cesium formate, a drilling and completion fluid for use in high pressure and high temperature oil and gas well construction.
