It operates in three segments: Security Products, Furniture Components, and Marine Components. Security Products segment manufactures locking mechanisms and other security products, such as disc tumbler locks, pin tumbler locking mechanisms, electronic locks, and cabinet locks used in various applications, including ignition systems, mailboxes, vending and gaming machines, parking meters, electrical circuit panels, storage compartments, office furniture, and medical cabinet security. Furniture Components segment manufactures precision ball bearing slides and ergonomic computer support systems, such as integrated slide locks, adjustable ball locks, self-closing slides, articulating computer keyboard support arms, and CPU storage devices, as well as accessories, such as ergonomic wrist rest aids, mouse pad supports, and flat screen computer monitor support arms for use in applications, such as computer related equipment, appliances, tool storage cabinets, imaging equipment, file cabinets, desk drawers, and automated teller machines. Marine Components segment manufactures and distributes marine instruments, hardware, and accessories for performance boats, including original equipment and aftermarket stainless steel exhaust headers, exhaust pipes, mufflers, and other exhaust components; gauges, such as GPS speedometers and tachometers; controls, throttles, steering wheels, and other billet accessories; and dash panels, LED lighting, rigging, and other accessories. CompX International sells its products to original equipment manufacturers and distributors in the United States, Canada, and Taiwan. The company was founded in 1993 and is based in Dallas, Texas.
