| e.Digital Corporation provides digital video/audio technology (DVAP) platform for use in the production of portable electronic products. The DVAP platform is based on MicroOS operating system, which manages the user interface functions; battery and power control; the volume and equalizer functions; the LCD drivers and interfaces; decodes various audio and video files; interacts with various digital rights management schemes; and supports media storage formats that include hard disk drives, and compact and embedded flash. The companys products include eVU portable mobile entertainment devices for application in the airline, healthcare, military, and other travel and leisure markets, as well as accessory products, including e.Digital Battery Charging Stations to charge and recondition batteries; and e.Digital Content Loading Stations to upload graphical interfaces and content to multiple players at one time. It also provides content services, including integrating the content with its proprietary GUI software to produce a master content file for uploading to multiple players; and maintenance and refurbishment services. In addition, the company owns and licenses Flash-R portfolio of patents related to the use of flash memory in portable devices. It sells its products directly, as well as through value-added resellers in the United States and internationally. The company was formerly known as Norris Communications, Inc. and changed its name to e.Digital Corporation in January 1999. e.Digital Corporation was founded in 1988 and is based in San Diego, California. |
