| Huaneng Power International, Inc., together with its subsidiaries, engages in the generation and sale of electric power to the regional or provincial grid companies primarily in the Peoples Republic of China and Singapore. It operates and manages power plants in Liaoning, Hebei, Shanxi, Shandong, Henan, Fujian, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Guangdong, Jiangxi, Gansu, and Hunan provinces, as well as in Shanghai and Chongqing municipalities. As of April 14, 2009, the Company owned 17 operating power plants, and had controlling interests in 13 operating power companies and minority interests in 5 operating power companies in the Peoples Republic of China. It also had a total generation capacity of 39,203 megawatt. The company was founded in 1994 and is based in Beijing, the Peoples Republic of China. Huaneng Power International, Inc. is a subsidiary of Huaneng International Power Development Corporation. |
