BUSINESS SUMMARY 
International Shipholding Corporation, through its subsidiaries, operates a fleet of vessels that provide maritime transportation services to commercial and governmental customers primarily under medium to long-term time charters or contracts of affreightment in the United States and internationally. The company also offers ship charter brokerage and agency services. As of February 28, 2009, it owned/operated 31 ocean-going vessels, including 6 U.S. flag pure car/truck carriers (PCTCs) to transport assembled automobiles, trucks, and larger vehicles; and 4 international flag PCTCs to transport heavyweight and large dimension trucks and buses, and automobiles, as well as 1 PCTC newbuilding. The company also operated two multi-purpose vessels comprising one container vessel and one tanker vessel for transporting supplies for the Indonesian operations of a mining company; and one U.S. flag molten sulphur vessel to carry molten sulphur from Louisiana and Texas to a processing plant on the Florida Gulf Coast. In addition, it operated two special purpose vessels modified as roll-on/roll-off (RO/RO) vessels to transport loaded rail cars between the U.S. Gulf and Mexico; one U.S. flag conveyor belt-equipped self-unloading coal carrier; three RO/RO vessels that permit rapid deployment of rolling stock, munitions, and other military cargoes; two U.S. flag and two international flag container ships; and two Capesize bulk carriers, one Panamax bulk carriers, and two Handymax bulk carriers newbuildings in which the company owned a 50% interest of each. International Shipholding Corporation was founded in 1978 and is headquartered in Mobile, Alabama.
