| Johnson Outdoors, Inc., together with its subsidiaries, engages in the design, manufacture, and marketing of outdoor recreation products worldwide. The company operates through four segments: Marine Electronics, Outdoor Equipment, Watercraft, and Diving. The Marine Electronics segment provides battery-powered fishing motors for trolling or primary propulsion; sonar and GPS equipment for fish finding and navigation; downriggers for controlled-depth fishing; and chart plotters for navigation. It offers its products through outdoor specialty retailers, retail store chains, marine distributors, international distributors, and original equipment manufacturers. The Outdoor Equipment segment offers military, commercial, and consumer tents; sleeping bags and backpacks; field compasses and digital instruments; and performance measurement instruments through independent sales representatives, primarily to sporting goods stores, catalog and mail order houses, and camping and backpacking specialty stores. The Watercraft segment manufactures and markets kayaks, canoes, paddles, and personal flotation devices. This segment sells its products primarily to specialty stores and marine dealers, sporting goods stores, and catalog and mail order houses. The Diving segment manufactures and markets underwater diving and snorkeling equipment, including regulators, stabilizing jackets, dive computers and gauges, wetsuits, masks, fins, snorkels, and accessories for technical and recreational divers. This segment sells its products through selected distribution to independent specialty dive stores. The company was founded in 1985 and is headquartered in Racine, Wisconsin. |
