| The investment seeks growth of capital and of income. The fund normally invests at least 80% of net assets, plus the amount of any borrowings for investment purposes, in common stocks of large US companies that are similar in size to the companies in the S&P 500 index. Managers look for companies that have established histories of earnings, easy access to credit, good industry positions, and superior management structures. The fund may invest up to 20% of total assets in foreign securities. It may lend its investment securities in an amount up to 33 1/3% of total assets to approved institutional borrowers. |
