This segment also provides repair, replacement part sales, tuning and regulation of pianos, and restoration services. In addition, it operates as an online retailer of classical music recordings. It sells its products to professional artists and amateur pianists, as well as institutions, such as concert halls, universities, music schools, houses of worship, hotels, and retirement homes in the United States, Europe, Japan, China, and other Asian countries. The Band & Orchestral Instruments segment produces a line of brass, woodwind, percussion, and string instruments. It offers piccolos, flutes, clarinets, oboes, bassoons, trumpets, French horns, tubas, and trombones; acoustical and tuned percussion instruments, including outfit drums, marching drums, concert drums, marimbas, xylophones, vibraphones, orchestra bells, and chimes; violins, violas, cellos, and basses; and mouthpieces and accessories, such as music stands, batons, mallets, straps, mutes, reeds, pads, chin rests, strings, bows, cases, and instrument care products. It sells its products to students, amateur and professional musicians, and institutions in the United States, Europe, Japan, and Canada. It sells its products through independent dealers, distributors, retail showrooms, district sales managers, and telemarketing representatives. The company, formerly known as Selmer Industries, Inc., was founded in 1993 and is based in Waltham, Massachusetts. |
