| Prospect Medical Holdings, Inc. provides hospital services and health care management services to affiliated physician organizations that operate as independent physician associations (IPAs) or medical clinics in the United States. It operates in two segments, IPA Management and Hospital Services. The IPA Management segment provides management services to affiliated physician organizations. Its IPAs sub-contract with primary care and specialist physicians and other health care providers to provide required medical services for the health maintenance organizations (HMOs) enrollees. This segmentÂ’s management services include the negotiation of contracts with physicians and HMOs; physician recruiting and credentialing; human resources services; claims administration; financial services; provider relations; member services; and medical management, including utilization management and quality assurance, data collection, and management information systems. The Hospital Services segment owns and operates four urban acute-care community hospitals in the greater Los Angeles area. It offers various medical and surgical services, including general acute care hospital services, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatric sub-acute care, general surgery, medical-surgical services, orthopedic surgery, diagnostic, outpatient, skilled nursing, and urgent care services, as well as provides acute inpatient and outpatient psychiatric services on a voluntary basis. The company was founded in 1988 and is based in Los Angeles, California. |
