FUND SUMMARY

The investment seeks a generally stable real return in excess of the rate of inflation with a minimum of risk. The fund normally invests at least 80% of net assets in fixed-income securities of US issuers. It invests more than 25% of total assets in obligations of U.S. and foreign banks and bank holding companies when the yield to maturity on these investments exceeds the yield to maturity on all other eligible portfolio investments for a period of five consecutive days when the NYSE is open for trading. The fund may invest in Treasury bonds, bills and notes and obligations of federal agencies and instrumentalities.
