| The Spectranetics Corporation, together with its subsidiaries, designs, manufactures, and markets single use medical devices used in minimally invasive surgical procedures within the vascular system in conjunction with its proprietary excimer laser system. The companys excimer laser technology delivers ultraviolet energy to ablate, or remove, multiple lesion morphology types, which comprise plaque, calcium, and thrombus. Its vascular intervention disposable products include a range of peripheral and cardiac laser catheters for ablation of occluded arteries above and below the knee, and within coronary arteries; and lead management disposable product line comprises excimer laser sheaths and cardiac lead management accessories for the removal of pacemaker and defibrillator cardiac leads. The companys vascular intervention products are designed to treat a range of cardiovascular disease, including peripheral and coronary arterial diseases. It also markets non-laser aspiration catheters for the removal of thrombus and non-laser support catheters to facilitate crossing of coronary and peripheral arterial blockages. The company has operations in the United States, Canada, Europe, the Middle East, the Asia Pacific, Latin America, and Puerto Rico.
