| Symmetricom, Inc. supplies timing and synchronization hardware, software, and services to industry, government, utilities, research centers, and aerospace markets worldwide. It operates in two divisions, Telecom Solutions, and Timing, Test, and Measurement. The Telecom Solutions division offers timing and synchronization products, which include primary reference sources; edge clocks and distribution products for synchronization outside the network core; network management and monitoring software; and synchronization subsystems for OEM integration. The Timing, Test, and Measurement division provides precision time and frequency instruments and reference standards. Its products include synchronized clocks, network time servers, network displays, time code generators, and computer plug-in cards, as well as primary reference standards, including rubidium and cesium oscillator standards, ruggized crystal oscillators, and time and frequency systems. This divisions products are used in various applications, such as synchronization of communication and computer networks, reference timing for radar, ranging, fire-control, and other defense electronic systems, calibration of lab equipment, global navigation satellite systems, and subsystem master timing. Symmetricom also offers various lifecycle services, such as engineering and installation; operations and support programs; maintenance; training, certification programs, and professional development courses; and consulting and other professional services for its product lines. It sells its products to public network providers, incumbent local exchange carriers, public telephone and telegraph companies, competitive local exchange carriers, telephone companies, wireless service providers, cable television operators, distributors and systems integrators, Internet service providers, communications original equipment manufacturers, and governments. The company was founded in 1956 and is headquartered in San Jose, California. |
