| Textainer Group Holdings Limited and its subsidiaries engage in the purchase, management, leasing, and resale of a fleet of marine cargo containers worldwide. It operates in four segments: Container Ownership, Container Management, Container Resale, and Military Management. The Container Ownership segment primarily owns standard dry freight containers and special-purpose containers. The Container Management segment manages containers on behalf of container investors, as well as provides acquisition, management, and disposal services. The Container Resale segment purchases and leases or resells containers from shipping line customers, container traders, and other sellers of containers. The Military Management segment leases containers to the U.S. military pursuant to a contract with Surface Deployment and Distribution Command. As of December 31, 2008, Textainer Group Holdings operated a fleet of approximately 1.3 million containers, representing approximately 2,000,000 twenty-foot equivalent units. The company was founded in 1979 and is based in Hamilton, Bermuda. Textainer Group Holdings Limited is a subsidiary of Trencor Limited. |
