This segment also owns and manages single-specialty ambulatory surgery centers; and provides mobile and fixed site cataract equipment and related services. Its services also include cataract equipment, IOLs, surgical instruments, and supplies, as well as yttrium-aluminum-garnet capsulotomy and selective laser trabeculoplasty laser treatment. In addition, this segment provides access to eye surgeons to excimer femtosecond laser platforms, microkeratomes, other equipment, and value-added support services, such as training, technical support, and equipment maintenance. Further, it operates integrated and free-standing ambulatory surgical centers, which provide outpatient surgery services. The Eye Care segment provides marketing, practice development, and purchasing power to independently-owned and operated optometric practices. The company was formerly known as TLC Laser Eye Centers Inc. and changed its name to TLC Vision Corporation in May 2002. TLC Vision Corporation was founded in 1993 and is based in Mississauga, Canada.
