The fund invests at least 80% of its assets in fixed-income securities whose principal value increases or decreases based on changes in the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers ("CPI-U"), over the life of the security. Typically, it will invest in U.S. Treasury Inflation-Indexed Securities ("TIIS"). The fund may also invest up to 25% of its assets in inflation-indexed bonds issued or guaranteed by foreign governments and their agencies, as well as other foreign issuers.
