The investment seeks a high level of current interest income exempt from regular federal, state and, in some cases, local income taxes as is consistent with preservation of capital. The fund primarily invests in insured municipal bonds. It invests at least 80% of net assets in municipal securities that are covered by insurance guaranteeing the timely payment of principal and interest. In addition, the fund invests at least 80% of net assets in municipal securities that are rated at least AA or municipal bonds backed by an escrow or trust account containing sufficient U.S. government or U.S. government agency securities or U.S. Treasury-issued State.
