Fund Summary

The investment seeks to provide current income; capital appreciation is a secondary consideration. The fund invests primarily in fixed-income securities issued or guaranteed by the US government in a variety of sectors of the fixed-income market. It normally invests at least 80% of assets in bonds and may invest up to 25% of assets in debt securities that are rated below investment grade. The duration of the portfolio typically ranges within 10% of the duration of the Lehman Brothers Aggregate Bond index, but may vary up to 35% from the index duration.
