Supervalu Inc., the Minneapolis-based parent company of Shop ‘N Save and Save-A-Lot, said Wednesday it will acquire 22 Food Lion groceries in connection with the merger between Ahold and Delhaize. Koninklijke Ahold NV and Delhaize Group agreed to sell 86 U.S. stores to win approval from the U.S. Federal Trade Commission for their $31 billion merger, according to the Wall Street Journal. The stores being acquired by Supervalu are in northern West Virginia, western Maryland, south central Pennsylvania and northwestern Virginia.
